POLMANS SA is a precision mechanical workshop specializing in the machining of single parts but also small and medium series. Thanks to its design office and 45 years of experience, POLMANS SA also designs and produces complete assemblies for all sectors.
Cédric Polmans, administrator, explains: “The ARMIN robot cell was our first investment in robotics. When we bought our last multitasking lathe (a Mazak Integrex I200), automation became obvious to be more flexible and competitive ".
The objective was therefore to make the most of this new CNC's potential by running it autonomously and for more than 8 hours a day. Indeed, it is often complicated to find qualified operators. Today, thanks to the 35kg robot and the two tables, the robot takes care of repetitive tasks while operators take care of other productions.
Mr. Polmans also adds: “After 1.5 months of use we have already seen the benefits. The machine works autonomously thanks to the robot during the day and we start producing on an extra half-break by launching series at the end of the day that end at night.
After a quick adaptation phase, the operators are happy and have adopted the robot as a new tool. The flexibility and ease of use motivate them to find the best way to benefit from it. The next goal is to make the cell run on weekends.
We have been extremely pleased with the relationship we have had with Armin Robotics. The prices are very competitive (which is also important) and in terms of service and professionalism they totally met our expectations. Their responsiveness, both remotely and on site to answer our questions, was total. For a first robotization, it was important for us to have a reliable partner. "
Geoffroy Cammermans, CEO : « The installation went perfectly, everything works according to our expectations. The ARMIN team is very responsive and attentive. This allowed us to build a production cell meeting our needs on the basis of their standard solution. »
The modularity of ARMIN software made it possible to start up this cell without modifying the robot program. In fact, simple configuration management (a vice or a lathe chuck) like complex machines (two spindles, two tables, roto pallets,…) is integrated to ARMIN. As a result, a configuration that seems "non-standard" is actually "standard" with ARMIN.
The Technical & Production Manager : « In
order to meet the requirements of our aircraft manufacturer customers, we
had to increase our productivity and reduce our costs. It is with this objective that we contacted ARMIN to study the the automation of an OKUMA GENOS lathe. I must admit today that the result has exceeded our expectations.
Christophe Sécheret : « It was the first robot in our workshops. The main drivers of this acquisition were competitiveness, the reduction of manufacturing cycles, the robustness of the process and the modernization of our plant ».
